SICK 3D Camera Toolkit for LabVIEW
Version 3.1 based on iCon 4.3
==============================
General
---------------
The SICK 3D Camera Toolkit for LabVIEW 3.1 is a set of VIs to interact with a SICK Ranger E/D camera or a Ruler E
from the LabVIEW development environment. The toolkit will help you with the following type of actions:
* Connect to a Ranger E/D camera or Ruler E camera
* Configuration of the camera
* Starting and stopping of the camera
* Retrieving data from the camera
* Application of filters to data (calibration and/or rectification, registration of color subcomponents and creation of RGB images)
* Splitting Multiscan data into its subcomponents
* Placing Ranger data in standard LabVIEW (IMAQ) buffers for analysis using NI Vision based software
* Disconnecting from the camera
System Requirements
--------------------------
In order to install and run the toolkit you will need the following:
* A Windows PC running Windows XP, service pack 2 or 3, or Windows 7 (both 32 or 64 bit)
* 3D Camera SDK version 4.3
* A properly installed copy of LabVIEW 2010 SP1 (32bit) or later including the following components:
* LabVIEW Professional Development System
* Vision Development Module
* A Ranger E/D, ColorRanger E, or Ruler E camera with the following software installed in the camera
* Camera application: 4.3.0.88
* FPGA: 1.4.12.0
* Ethernet Monitor: 3.0.0.6
To make use of the Pleora High Performance drivers you will need to have the correct version of this software installed.
The officially supported eBus version for iCon 4.3 is:
* Pleora eBUS Suite version: 2.0.1
These drivers are available on the 3D Camera SDK CD or from www.sickivp.com
* For configuration of parameters etc you are recommended to use Ranger Studio
Prerequisites
--------------------------
The SICK 3D Camera Toolkit will only help you as far as getting camera data into LabVIEW and splitting them into subcomponents.
You are therefore assumed to already be familiar with the NI Vision libraries and/or other LabVIEW based image processing libraries.
You should primarily turn to National Instruments to improve your knowledge on these tools. You are also assumed to know
the Ranger or Ruler camera and how to configure it to meet your requirements. This is best done using Ranger Studio.
If you need to improve your understanding of the Ranger camera systems, please contact your vision contact person within SICK.
News
--------------------------
Below a list of improvements in this version.
* Added support for Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit)
* Sick 3D Camera driver 4.3 supports the new High-Performance GigE driver from Pleora and this functionality is now supported
also by the SICK 3D Camera Toolkit for LabVIEW. Please note that usage of the updated High Performance driver requires both the
latest camera firmware and an update of the iCon API function calls in the application code. In the Toolkit the new High-Performance
GigE driver is selected for communication by setting Ethernet Mode control as "FG Ethernet Fast".
* Support to acquire color images from Color Ranger. To support the new Color Ranger cameras new filters have been added to the iCon API.
These are needed since the different colors are not measured on the same sensor row, so one have to shift the color subcomponents to make
the measurements on the same place for all colors.
